Abstract

Purpose

The primary purpose of this study is to examine the effect of organizational culture (OC), that is, group, developmental, hierarchical and rational culture on organizational learning (OL) of employees in electricity distribution companies of Isfahan province. Further, the role of the high-performance work system (HPWS) as a mediator between OC and OL has also been explored.

Design/methodology/approach

Questionnaire survey method has been used for data collection, and data analysis was completed through a two-stage partial least squares structural equation modeling technique. At the first stage, the measurement model was examined for construct validity and reliability, whereas at the second stage, the structural model and by implication the research hypotheses were tested.

Findings

Results indicate that OC positively affects OL. Further, HPWS act as a mediating variable between OC and OL.

Originality/value

The findings contribute to the existing literature by demonstrating the mediating role of HPWS in the relationship between OC and learning.

Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of this paper is to propose and test an integrated model focusing on the drivers and consequences of intellectual capital in the context of the hotel industry.

Design/methodology/approach

A quantitative study was conducted, including 156 hotels located in Iran. Structural equation modeling examines the validity of constructs and path relationships.

Findings

The results of the PLS-SEM analysis provided three findings as follows: the three dimensions of social capital, namely the structural, relational, and cognitive social capital, had positive effects on knowledge sharing; knowledge sharing had positive effects on three components of intellectual capital (human capital, structural capital and relational capital); and intellectual capital dimensions, which in turn, lead to innovation.

Originality/value

The combination of a developing country context and the significance of social capital, knowledge sharing, intellectual capital and innovation in hotel industry enhance the contextual contribution of the paper.

Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of the current study was to examine the influence of knowledge sharing on organizational performance in sport organizations.

Design/methodology/approach

A sample of sport managers in Iran completed a survey designed to identify and measure this relationship. The research sample was obtained through snowball sampling. A theoretical model was developed and tested based on literature review. SPSS18 and AMOS20 were applied to data analysis.

Findings

Utilizing structural equation modeling, the findings support the premise that knowledge sharing is significantly effective on organizational performance.

Practical implications

Relevant implications are provided for management as to how to improve sport organizational performance.

Originality/value

Knowledge sharing and performance has been well researched in large and small business enterprises. However, limited research in sport organizations with the European Foundation for Quality Management approach exists. This paper provides valuable insight into the measurement of knowledge sharing and performance in the sport organizations and offers a foundation for future organizational research.

Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the relationships among destination image, perceived quality, perceived value, satisfaction and revisit intention of sport tourism in Iran.

Design/methodology/approach

Statistical population of this research consisted of those tourists who traveled to Mazandaran province in Iran as a sport tourism destination in 2012. A random sample of 1,250 tourists was asked to respond to questionnaires from which 886 accurate questionnaires were used for analysing data. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to explore the relationships among the research variables.

Findings

The results showed that sport tourists’ perception of destination image, perceived quality and perceived value influenced their satisfaction and revisit intention positively.

Originality/value

The results of this research help to better understand the behavioral intentions, which can be an acceptable basis to increase sport tourists’ visit and revisit of a sport destination.
